How much does a 6.6kW solar system cost in NZ?
$14,000 to $15,000 installed is typical in 2026 (Solar Scout). MySolarQuotes gives a wider $12,500 to $16,500. Simply Solar's published $11,595 package is for single-level homes with tin roofs.
How many panels is 6.6kW?
15 panels at 440W each, the standard panel size in 2026. Allow about 2 m² per panel, so roughly 30 m² of unshaded roof.
How much will a 6.6kW system save?
It depends on how much you use in daylight and your buy-back rate. Solar Scout's worked example (60% used at home at 32c, the rest exported at 12c) comes to about $2,160 a year. At the February 2026 MBIE average price of 40.6c it is higher. Try the payback calculator.
