Solar Panels NZ quotes and manages your solar installation under one contract with you. A partner installer we subcontract does the install, with registered electricians. You pay $250 to book a survey, a deposit when you accept the fixed price, and the balance only once the system is commissioned and certified.

Site survey, $250
Refundable until you sign. We email within 2 working days to book it with the installer.
Fixed-price contract
The package price, plus anything the survey found, in writing. Accept it and pay the deposit, or walk away with your $250 back.
Lines company and install
We apply to your lines company (EECA: generally 1 to 2 weeks), then the install takes 1 or 2 days.
Certify, then pay
Inspection and certificates, switch-on and monitoring. The balance is due once the certificates are in your hands.
Who does what
Solar Panels NZ sells the system, sets the price, signs the contract with you, manages the job and handles any problem afterwards.
Our partner installer is an independent solar installation business we subcontract in each region. Its electricians are registered with the EWRB and do all electrical work. We ask for installers that hold, or are working towards, the SOLASSURE quality mark, and we check their insurance before they work on a job.
We are contracting installers now. No region is live yet, so we are not taking survey deposits. Each installer will be named here and in your contract before any deposit is taken.
Referrals. Where we can't do a job, and only if you tick the box to agree, we may pass your enquiry to another installer and receive a referral fee. We tell you who before they contact you.

If something goes wrong
Your contract is with us, so you deal with us. You also keep your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993. Manufacturer warranties are registered in your name, so they stand regardless of what happens to any installer.
Questions about how we work
Are you the installer?
No. We're the company you contract with: we price the job, manage it and stand behind it. The installation and electrical work are done by a partner installer we subcontract, whose electricians are registered with the Electrical Workers Registration Board.
Who is your installer?
We're contracting installers region by region and will name each one on this page, and in your contract, before we take a deposit. Until then, regions show as waitlist.
Who do I call if something goes wrong?
Us. Your contract is with us, so we deal with the installer for you. The installer's workmanship warranty is passed through to you, and the manufacturers' product warranties are registered in your name.
Why do you charge for the survey?
The $250 covers a registered electrician's visit and design time. It's refundable in full until you sign, and credited against your install if you go ahead.
How much is the contract deposit?
It's set out in your fixed-price contract, within the 10% to 30% EECA describes as typical. The balance is due only after commissioning and certification.
